We have the big releases for this year ready and available!
Meet new What If & Control AI
We are beyond excited to announce completely renewed What If-feature, also for Android!
Now you can:
- Turn & tilt the map
- Draw with a freehand
- Draw all the mistakes for the same track and see the total times for them all
- Save the route for later analyses
- Use the route for route comparison
- See the elevation profile of the route
The biggest difference here compared to the old one is that now we use our own AI model to predict your speed along the drawn track.
How does this magic work in reality? It is not magic. We analyze your calibrated map image and assess your speed on different parts of the track and in different vegetations, roads etc. Based on this information we can form predictions on what your speed would be on certain area of the map.
You have the possibility to rely on our prediction (AI) or choose also the actual average (AVG) speed of the course instead. Selection is yours. This is our first version of the feature and we will keep on improving our calculations during this year.
Everybody can try it the first time for free. After that you need Total Control to continue using it.
Compare Routes, rebuilt
With the new Compare Routes, you can now compare up to 10 tracks based on your own map.
We have more clear visuals of the route differences on the map and also completely new charts! You can compare the time difference and elevation difference along the tracks. Time difference shows clearly where you gained or lost. The baseline is you.
Replay is now built to Compare Routes as well! You can follow all the runners advancing on the course like they would have started at the same second.
Course is automatically split into segments based on added control points. First time ever on Android you can now perform segment-by-segment comparisons.

Both platforms are in Sync
To continue the feature parity between iOS & Android, we are also introducing Cloud Sync to iOS.
Both platforms now use Control’s own Cloud Sync with your Control user account. This means that your courses from Android are visible on your iPhone with the same user account. Now you can easily switch between devices with your account. Upgrading to a new phone or tablet brings all your courses with you to the new device.
This covers Mac as well, as we also updated Mac version to 5.0 to use all new features launched now.
Your courses are always and forever with you!
Tablet support on Android
Android app got also bit modernized along the way, using the latest Material Design 3 Expressive user interface components.
And while we were at it, we decided to finally make it a tablet compliant app as well. So now our Android app looks much better on tablets and foldables.
Map view & Compare Routes & Image sharing all take advantage of the bigger screen to put user interface components in a side-by-side layout.

And more…
There is a lot in these releases. One big thing is video sharing: We finally resolved some long-standing issues with it. It got much, much faster on Android. And the videos are now outputted with better quality, also on iOS.
We could also mention few other things:
💥 Profile Bio!
💥 Fixed course imports from COROS watches!
💥 Norwegian and Chinese language support!
💥 Examine the map and route when writing comments!
💥 Bug fixes!
But if we could pick one theme in these releases, it would be the feature parity: What If and Compare Routes are now pretty much the same feature on both platforms and we are more close to total parity than ever.
Hope you enjoy the app! We are not stopping, there are more awesome things coming up. We have mentioned the Control AI for the first time here, but not for the last time… Stay tuned!
